You know that desire deep inside, the one that says that you HAVE to get out and see the world? Well it was alive and well this summer. I just had to go some place. Any place. Especially after a not-so-good start to August.
I’ve had this little…promise to myself, that ever since I got my passport renewed in 2007 that I would continue to get a stamp in it every single year. From Nevis, to Ireland, to the UK, France and Canada, I’ve kept that dream going and I hope to continue through 2017 when it expires. My passion for travel and adventure has never been stronger, the world is calling me, and I want to answer. Ohhh do I want to answer. Give me a year (and unlimited bank roll) and I will see the world. I wonder where 2013 will take me?!
In the meantime, check out the wonders of Niagara Falls, the first stop in a Canadian road trip my friend and I planned in a week’s time. After roughly 9 hours (a lunch break and many bathroom stops included) we arrived at the Canadian side of the Falls. Did you know it costs $3.25 to cross the border at Niagara? Well, if you didn’t, now you know. Our stay was nice, but short and we specifically paid a little extra (thank you American Express rewards points) for a Fall’s view room at the Marriott on the Falls hotel. Boy was it worth it. The first 3 photos below were taken while standing on our balcony.
Seeing the Falls lit up at night was pretty special too. Of course, had we known how close we were to the promenade area, it probably would have been best to go down and see the Falls closer, but the balcony was just fine. Oh and we even tried our luck at one of the nearby casinos!
I must say though, my favorite part of the trip was our ride on the Maid of the Mist. Being on the water, and seeing the Falls up close was truly an amazing sight. Nothing like being pelted with water while wearing a thin, blue plastic poncho and trying to keep your super expensive camera dry. Now, onto the photos…
